Nothing beats having to see the classical reaction of your dog when it hears the word “TREAT”. We spoke about using treats as a reward and for training before. Today we look at other treat related information.
Dog treat can range from fruits to veggies and meat. Dog’s diets are omnivorous, as in they consume vegetables as well as meat. Whether it is about teaching them new tricks or sneak a pill or even aid them having a better digestion, treats work beautifully.
There are moments when you are sitting on your couch watching your favorite show with a serving of some sort of snack in your hands, when you notice the shiny watery eyes of your pet looking at you wanting a piece of that serving. Be aware not all food can be consumed what we humans have by our pets.
There are multiple advantages to using a treat and meaningful purposes to serve. Few of them are as mentioned below:
Building bond with Treat:
Even though excitement of treats is one of the beautiful reactions we get from our pet, it can also serve as a purpose of communication with them. For instance, a guest at our house providing the treat actually builds a bond with the pets. Knowing you are providing the right treats is important. Therefore, snacks that contains required vitamins and minerals as well as super food like seeds, oil, berries, flaks and so on.
Treat training:
Providing treats to your dog as an incentive for positive emotions can be very beneficial. A jerky, or small treats are the most advisable snacks for the training since it can be consumed in a fewer bite. A combination of different commands with the snacks would be the right way to go about it.
Changing habits:
Do you find toys, footwear or other items in the house chewed on when not at home? The four-legged friend might be alone for a longer duration (due to our regular jobs or business activities and responsibilities), which would lead boredom and developing bad habits of chewing on the things. Usually having an aged pet along with a puppy would create a best scenario as the puppy would observe and learn from the aged pet. There are lots of chewy snacks to nibble on available in the market. For instance, chewy jerky, dried rabbit ears and so on. As well as chewy toys that would lead to your pet mimicking the chewy habit on. Some of the symptoms of negative habits would account as separation anxiety, boredom, chewing, too much of hand licking, drooling, excess sleeping and so on.
Treat Digestion foresight:
We recommend on smaller treats or snacks depending on the size and daily activities of your dog. As weight control would be one of the main factors to consider too. If your dog has a sensitive digestive system then we recommend on checking the type of snack that is being given. Some pets are sensitive to certain ingredients just like us. For instance, one might have an affinity towards milk products or spices or certain preservatives in the products or even certain kind of meats. On a long-term consumption, it would lead to many diseases and some might have serious repercussions. Certain symptoms of such repercussions are maybe gastric issues (farting), weakening of fur coats, vomits and so on.
